The award ceremony of the 31st German Packaging Prize took place in Nuremberg on the afternoon of November 12th in line with the BRAU Beviale, the European beverage trade fair. The German Packaging Institute dvi awarded prizes to 22 new developments from 18 companies and 3 students in 7 categories. Prizes were awarded for functional and novel solutions which promote the packaging practice in an economical, technical, creative and ecological respect. The Oscar of the packaging industry enjoys increasing international attention. For example 13 of 16 submissions were selected for the WorldStar 2008 at the jury meeting of the World Packaging Organisation in Cape Town through the German Packaging Prize. This year, German innovations could mainly prevail among the strong international competition in the consumer area.
