Diamant Art Corporation (DIAAF) through its wholly owned subsidiary Diamant Film Inc. is about to begin trials for use of their oxo biodegradation technology in the manufacturing of plastic PET (polyethylene terephthalate with Leading Bottling Companies for Scientific Evaluation in Noth America. The additive has been subject to research in Europe and initial results indicate that it will work to create a degradable plastic PET bottle. By utilizing the proprietary additive in a manufacturing environment, these evaluations will determine the integration suitability for North American Plastic Bottling Manufacturing systems.

Heinz, the US-based global food company, is a chosen supply partner of fast food restaurants chain McDonald’s in Russia for the production of liquid products. These products include ketchup, mayonnaise-based sandwich sauces, syrups for milk shakes, ice cream toppings and dipping sauces. Similar packaging formats are used by McDonald’s in other markets. As a result, global cooperation in production and packaging is key. Heinz already works with Sealed Air Cryovac in other parts of the world, but there were additional reasons why it chose to work with them also in Russia.

If you want to accumulate less waste packaging, the single most important step is to shop less at supermarkets. Though the big retailers are making commendable efforts to cut down on packaging, there’s still too much of it. An 80g pack of organic Portobello mushrooms bought recently (not by me!) at a national chain came in a clingfilmed plastic tray weighing 20g – one quarter the weight of the contents.
