Growth in confectionery demand in Germany

ProSweets Cologne, the international supplier fair for the confectionery industry, ended on Wednesday, 3rd February 2010 after delivering good results and thereby providing fresh momentum in the sector. The trade fair, which took place for the fourth time, once again set new record results and achieved new growth in all categories — exhibitors, visitors and exhibition area. A total of 325 suppliers from 30 countries took part in ProSweets Cologne, presenting their products and services on a gross exhibition space of 19,000 m² to more than 19,000 trade visitors from 60 countries. “In view of the overall economic situation, the success of ProSweets Cologne is even more impressive,” said Koelnmesse CEO Gerald Böse. “It also underlines the importance of the trade fair as a marketing tool, information exchange and catalyst for positive development in the sector.” ProSweets Cologne is the world’s only trade fair that focuses on all the needs of confectionery sector suppliers — from production to processing to packaging of confectionery products. The conceptual sponsors of ProSweets Cologne are the Association of the German Confectionery Industry (BDSI), Sweets Global Network (SG), the German Agricultural Society (DLG) and the Central College of the German Confectionery Industry (ZDS).

Over 14,700 visitors from over 100 countries and 307 exhibiting companies from 28 countries established new records for the event and ensured major growth of ProSweets Cologne in all areas. "The fact that ProSweets Cologne took place exactly in parallel to ISM, the International Sweets and Biscuits Fair, was a big factor in the positive visitor turnout", says Gerald Böse, President and CEO of Koelnmesse. "Our concept to provide the supplier industry with its own specific platform has finally been fully appreciated by the sector. This was especially underlined by the large number of expert visitors from the area of production and manufacturing who attended the event."

AgroProdMash 2007 to hit record

Like in the previous years, the Russian premier exhibition event for the food processing branches (15-19 October 2007 in Moscow) has been booked very well. Many companies have enlarged their budgets and exhibition space this year in the IFFA trade fair in Frankfurt, Germany. However, the preparations for AgroProdMash Moscow show how important the Russian market is now for the European branches. An additional stimulus for the development of the food processing sector are undoubtedly the support measures implemented since 2006 by the Russian state for the agricultural and food processing industries.

Chocolate theme in Cologne

Following its successful debut in Cologne at the beginning of this year, ProSweets Cologne will be returning on 29th January 2007 — and there are plenty of reasons to support the concept behind it, which has been modified slightly. Koelnmesse, the organiser of the fair, aims to make the next ProSweets Cologne even more effective for visitors and exhibitors by making it overlap with ISM by three days.
