Paper group investing EUR27m in purification
Paperboard manufacturer Iggesund Paperboard, which is part of the Holmen forest products industry group, is investing EUR27m to improve wastewater purification at its Swedish mill Iggesunds Bruk. The purification facility will come online in the autumn of 2009. The mill manufactures Iggesund’s flagship product Invercote, which has a leading market position as a packaging material for prestige products and for use in graphics applications such as book and brochure covers and greeting cards.

In comparison to containers made of polyethylene (PE), they display considerable better barrier properties against gases such as oxygen, hydrogen and carbon dioxide. Ultraform E3120 BM is resistant to many types of media such as alcohol, oil and hydrocarbons, and moreover, it can be sterilized with hot steam. This product is now available in commercial quantities.

Toray Industries, has announced that it made a decision to embark on local production in Europe of Torayfan* (bi-axially oriented polypropylene (OPP) film) high-barrier metalized film. Toray will establish Toray Films Europe S.A.S., or TFE, in France in February 2008 and newly construct a film production facility (annual capacity of 20,000 tons) and metalizing facility (annual capacity of 22,000 tons). Toray plans to invest approximately 10 billion yen in this project and the facilities are expected to start operations from April 2010.
