Krones AG, Neutraubling, Germany, has developed a system called MouldXpress Advanced, which downsizes the change-over time for moulds in the Contiform, thus improving the availability levels of the stretch blow-moulding machine. The semi-automatic system integrated into the blowing wheel shortens the change-over time from about 3.5 minutes to less than one minute per blow-moulding station.

At this year’s Euromold, Hofmann Innovation AG will be presenting the world’s largest selective laser sintering (SLS) system for plastics in medical and pharmaceutical applications. With a usable volume of up to 1,500 mm x 500 mm x 500 mm (X|Y|Z axis), the “Hofmann Medea 1500” system now allows the sintering of large plastic components using a genuine single-step process. As a result, one-piece components with no adhesive joints or welded seams can be produced. For the first time ever, large components such as instrument panels and interior/exterior automotive parts can be manufactured using an inexpensive sintering process.

For the first time in Europe, a machine manufacturer has demonstrated that BASF’s Styrolux® 3G 46 can be processed by extrusion blow-molding. The Kautex Maschinenbau company, a maker of blow-molding systems, has recently produced intricately shaped bottles using this styrene-butadiene copolymer (SBC) on a high-performance extrusion blow-molding machine. BASF launched this plastic as a blow-molding brand onto the market in early 2008.

The company’s patented Bag-in Bottle technology, for the manufacture of disinfectant bottles with a capacity of 1000 ml. and airless functionality (see picture 1), succeeded against almost 80 entries from Europe, America and Asia. According to the jury, principal reasons for its selection were the responsible deployment of resources and optimised energy usage during production. Retal installs new equipment
With the recent addition of two HyPET 300 systems, Retal Industries, a major packaging and component supplier in Russia and Eastern Europe, has extended its reliance on Husky Injection Molding Systems. From the initial machine supplied to their plant in the Czech Republic in 1994, followed in 1999 by the first machine supplied to Russia, Retal Industries has installed a total of 69 Husky systems to date.
