Matthews International Corporation (today announced the completion of its purchase of a 78% ownership interest in Saueressig GmbH. Saueressig, which is a leading European provider of pre-press services and gravure printing forms, is headquartered in Vreden, Germany and has its principal manufacturing operations in Germany, Poland and England. Matthews initially announced on February 25, 2008 the signing of the definitive agreement for the purchase, which was subject to regulatory approval in Germany.

Together with state secretary Hendrik Hering of the Rhineland-Palatinate government
and the mayor of Trier, Helmut Schröer, the CEO and chairman of the
Management Board of the Mayr-Melnhof Group, Wilhelm Hörmanseder, opened the most modern European gravure printing site for
packaging. With an investment of about EUR 20 million the MM Gravure
printing site will create approximately 100 new workplaces – in addition to 730
already existing in this federal state.
