Pantec GS Systems announces the launch of RHINO(tm), a machine system for flat hotfoil embossing on reel material. Hotfoil embossing combines the steps of hotfoil stamping and embossing into one single tool. According to Pantec GS Systems RHINO(tm) achieves especially on open, structured papers significantly better results than conventional rotary systems.

Clarifoil’s UV filter film, normally used in packaging of luxury foods which can suffer UV discoloration, is also helping scientists from Halle University in Germany to measure the effects of climate change in one of the world’s most northerly regions.

The Swiss company Lugaia STS AG is a manufacturer of disposable solutions for the pharmaceutical industry. With “Stericon”, Lugaia is on the market with a certified and patented procedure that uses sterile foil products and applies precision welding technology to transfer pharmaceutical substances, vials or also plugs to an isolator-protected zone. An RTP port is not required. In March 2009, Lugaia became a premium partner of Optima Group Pharma GmbH.

The most important trade fair for the graphics and printing industry, Print2009, took place recently at the fair grounds of Kistamässan in Stockholm / Sweden. For the first time, KBA-Metronic was represented by its Scandinavian dealer, Schneidler Grafiska AB from Sweden. In a very attractive atmosphere many visitors enjoyed the absolutely highlight of the exhibition - Genius 52UV. The UV offset printing machine with waterless and keyless short inking units in the 36 x 52 cm format was simply an eye-catcher. The different applications on varied substrates were demonstrated to the interested audience. The displayed Genius 52UV had the optional varnishing unit for high gloss surfaces. The system has been installed at LSG Plastic Printing AB in Motala after the show. This continues the trend to success of the short inking technology manufactured by KBA-Metronic and convince more and more printing companies.

German pre-print supplier Deuschle Druckveredelung launched Lux-Reflex on the market in April this year. Lux-Reflex is a foil-laminated cartonboard that they offer with extremely short lead-times as they have the material in stock and also have the capacity to sheet. The cartonboard is Korsnäs White. “Thanks to the partnership with Korsnäs we can offer the facilities of a big group, like their Packaging Performance Service with design expertise, says Mr Dieter Hansel, MD at Deuschle Druckveredelung.

The stamping foil manufacturer Kurz is strengthening its commitment to ecofriendly manufacturing and processing of stamping foils.

The baling presses from the Salem-based manufacturer HSM are the specialist solution for compressing waste materials by up to 95% into sorted, easily transportable bales. The fully automatic channel baling press, HSM VK 12018 R, can be used to press ready-to-sell bales in a wide variety of materials – even bulky or very expansive material is no problem.

Protective Packaging Limited, manufacturers of barrier bags and liners made from aluminium foil laminates, will be exhibiting new concepts in Barrier Foil packaging at Emballage.

UC RUSAL, the world’s largest aluminium and alumina producer, is pleased to announce plans to construct a packaging foil plant near the city of Dmitrov in the Moscow region. The project investment will amount to approximately USD 20 million. The plant will have an overall capacity of 20,000 tonnes of packaging foil per year and will increase UC RUSAL’s share of the Russian foil and foil-based packaging market by up to 66%.

From 24th up to 31st of october 2007 Messe Düsseldorf opened their gates for the K, the world-wide leading fair for the plastic and rubber industry. Over eight days 3,130 exhibitors had the chance to convince approximately 242,000 specialized visitors from all over the world of their products. On 96 sqm HSM presented itself as specialist for the lasting compaction of PET bottles and for the pressing of foil, cardboard and special materials, like hard plastic (e.g. Television and computer frames).

Fischer & Krecke delivers their first CI flexo press designed for the WetFlex process to UV-Flex GmbH, Aichstetten, Germany. The 10-color press, a FLEXPRESS 16S model, will be commissioned in the beginning of March. WetFlex is an innovative process in which the radiation cured inks developed by Sun Chemical are applied wet-on-wet to the substrate.

At FachPack, GIKO will be focusing special attention on mono and composite films with full-surface or partial wax lamination as a speciality seldom found in Europe. There is a growing market for this type of packaging in the form of twist films with aluminium lamination for confectionery, stock cube wrapping, etc.
