The patented Slide-Rite® closure system by Pactiv had already received much recognition and was already very successful in the United States by the time it was introduced in the European market in 2000. Since the introduction in Europe, the Slide-Rite® closure system has repeated its early success in the United States with a similar story in Europe being distributed in several countries and an ever increasing volume base.

Famille Michaud Apiculteurs, number one in France for honey, are radically changing honey packaging with their new Lune de Miel products; Honey & Rose and Honey & Jasmin.

Plasticum introduced a new closure with the MaxiDose technology, especially designed for Food applications (honey, marmalade, chocolate pasta, syrup) and Personal Care applications (creams, gels, lotions).

Procter & Gamble adopts the Slide-Rite® closure on the larger packages of the Fairy dishwashing tab product line (about 15% of their volume). Earlier this year P&G began offering the dishwashing tabs in a laminated film, stand-up pouch equipped with the Pactiv reclosure system. The hooded pouch incorporates an Easy-Tear solution in the film providing a very easy method of opening and the Slide-Rite® closure provides a secure method of reclosing the packaging. In an effort to offer a value to the consumers, P&G expanded the product range to include a 120 count package in many European countries.

BERICAP’s DoubleSeal SuperShorty closure range for PCO 1881 is already well established for carbonated beverages and still water in markets like Europe, Americas and Asia. This closure range together with the PCO 1881 light weight neck offers the opportunity of significant weight reduction of up to 30%. With this closure range BERICAP claims to support industrial efforts to reduce costs, but also to improve environmental sustainability of their businesses.

Tymbark has recently launched an innovative beverage dedicated to young consumers. Kubuś Waterrr is a spring water with addition of fruit juice in three flavours: apple, lemon and strawberry. Thanks to aseptic production it contains neither preservatives nor colorants. Waterrr has been introduced to the market in an attractive fully sleeved 0.5L bottle, capped with the Original Sport Cap in 30-25 neck finish. The handy bottle can be easily carried around during school and leisure activities. Furthermore, the closure, equipped with the SimpliSqueeze® beverage valve, prevents the product from being accidentally spilled in kids’ backpacks.

In April 2009, BERICAP Turkey has launched the production of HexaLite® 29/11 SFB 3T – the water closure suitable for light weight neck finish 29/25 for DANONE Turkey’s HAYAT brand.

Focus is on the range of “Original” sports closures, on the market in 28mm and 30-25 neck sizes, with other formats under development. A portfolio of custom closures for beverage and syrups will also be on show.

General Bottlers CR, the Czech subsidiary of Pepsi Americas, have selected the 28mm Original Sport Cap from Seaquist Closures for their recently launched new product Toma Natura still water in a 0.7litre bottle.

COCA-COLA China decided already in Quarter 1 2008 to take advantage of reducing material usage by converting their aseptic PET beverage packages from PCO 1810 neck finish to PCO 1881. One of the closures they selected was the 1881 SuperShorty® closure.

AGUA SAN BENEDETTO SPAIN just recently has decided to introduce the THUMB’UP® sports closure 26,7mm for their still water FUENTE PRIMAVERA AGUA MINERAL, filled in 330 and 500ml bottles in Spain, which completes their range of products.

Beverages will remain the dominant market for caps and closures, accounting for 64 percent of unit demand in 2012.

Remy Martin, accelerating plans to promote premium spirit offerings in dynamic new markets, selected Rexam to create the closure for its deluxe 1898 Coupe Fine Champagne cognac. The emptied center of the carafe draws inspiration from the Asiatic symbol of influence while its shape is European.

Closure manufacturer Silgan White Cap has developed a range of special effects for its closures to enable customers to create enhanced shelf presence for their packaging and promote a premium image and product differentiation. The effects include a number of finishes such as metallic and matt, and a unique three dimensional look.

Tuthilltown Spirits, LLC has chosen O.BERK Company to provide custom glass bottles and closures for its new line of Hudson River Spirits, including Four Grain Bourbon, River Rum, Baby Bourbon, Manhattan Rye and Single Malt whiskeys, as well as Heart of the Hudson and Spirit of the Hudson Vodkas. Less than 10 years after having introduced on the market the first plastic closures for still water, traded as HEXACAP®, that weighted less than 2 g and that were produced on large scale across the world (almost 10 billion closures per year), BERICAP is now engaged with another major challenge with HexaLite® closures at less than 1.5 g, saving a minimum of 0.5 g of plastic resin (HDPE), on new light weight neck finish for PET bottles saving at least 1.5 g of PET resin, allowing savings of 2.0 g per package.

GALILEO® is the registered name for a new range of closures from BERICAP that all use its new patented technology for moulding hinged closures in closed position which allows relatively high speed moulding, does not require any additional closing operation that is necessary for the traditional hinged closures and offers quite efficient tamper evidence (TE) performance.

Gnar Turkey, Istanbul, recently started the production of pomegranate juice for the North American market. The head office of the Gnar Juice Company is based in Birmingham, Alabama, USA. Gnar chose Silgan White Cap’s smallest closure diameter 27mm for its 250ml glass bottle to offer the consumer an attractive easy to open and safe to reseal packaging. The product is offered in a convenient carton-made 4-pack.

SMARTSEAL and CORVAGLIA signs agreement on unique no-spill beverage closures. The two companies signed an agreement that covers development, manufacturing and sales of the patented SmartSeal FLEX range of closures.

Alcoa Closure Systems International (CSI) announced today the expansion of its popular mini™ brand closure portfolio with two new product offerings for carbonated and malt beverage producers. The new 28mm Xtra-Lok mini™ and 28mm MB-Lok mini™ closures are the first short height closures in the beverage industry that are capable of handling multi-serve PET package sizes up to 2.5 liters. The Xtra-Lok mini™ closure can be specified for use on either the 1873 or 1881 (under development) short height bottle finishes, depending upon customer requirements. The products provide beverage customers the capability and advantage of using one closure design for all of their PET bottle requirements. In addition to reduced inventory, the new closures provide significant packaging cost savings and environmental benefits.

BERICAP developed two different sizes of over caps for MAXICAY. Located in Almaty/Kazakhstan, MAXICAY started with tea production, producing locally its own preform and closures in 2004. In 2005 the Kazak company already chose the BERICAP DoubleSeal™ 7056 closure for its hotfilling tea production. In 2006 it switched to the DoubleSeal™ 7060 closure. MAXICAY’s sales skyrocketed in one year being the biggest tea producers in all Kazakhstan.
