Printing line installed in aerosol plant

Crown Aerosols Europe claims to have installed a new four-color printing line at its plant in Deurne, near Antwerp in Belgium. The addition is part of what Crown describes as it’s initiative to standardize print operations across all European aerosols plants.

Propellants removed from aerosol devices

Aluminium aerosol cans set new record in 2008

Despite declining demand for aluminium aerosols in the last quarter of 2008, annual production increased to around 5.7 billion cans. This is a remarkable increase of 8 per cent over 2007, which already was a record year for the aluminium aerosol can industry. Thus aluminium cans account for 44 per cent of the global aerosol can production of approximately 13.1 billion units. With the exception of the Middle East, shipments to all continents increased in 2008.

Whereas demand in North America and in large parts of Asia is more or less stagnating, business in Europe and South America is still going strong. For the year 2008 the aluminium aerosol can industry is expecting a global production of about 5.6 billion cans.

Bag on valve business sold

CCL Industries announced today that it has signed a binding agreement to divest the assets of its ABS ‘Bag-on-Valve’ business to AptarGroup, Inc. The business is a product line of CCL Container, sold in conjunction with aluminum aerosol containers for applications requiring separation between the propellant and the contents. CCL Container will retain the aluminum aerosol can business sold to customers using the ‘Bag-on-Valve’ system and AptarGroup will separately market these specialized dispensing systems to the customers.
