Alternative to polyethylene coated paperboard for food contact packaging in freezer sought
Seeking solution providing for use of materials in a direct food contact, freezer environment (0 F or lower) that are an alternative to polyethylene coated paperboard.Typically, paperboard used in a freezer is coated to prevent moisture transfer. We are seeking solutions that would allow for direct food contact and minimize the penetration of moisture into the paperboard.
Solution Requirements:
Primary packaging materials must allow direct food contact.
Potential solutions are desired to be recyclable within commercial recycling facilities
Success Criteria:
Graphics quality / appearance are unaffected by any moisture penetration of the material
Cost should be at parity or less than materials they are replacing such as polyethylene coated paperboard.
