Meat processor changes packaging solution
Headquartered in Athens, IFANTIS SA is the leading Greek meat processor. Its main products include smoked and processed meats, in both slices and portions – salami, sausages, turkey and hams. SEEKING UNIQUE DIFFERENTIATION
Ifantis follows a commercial and marketing strategy
based on differentiation and innovation. This brought
them to select the original Darfresh® vacuum skin
packaging by Sealed Air Cryovac back in the 1990’s to
pack Case-Ready processed meats for retail. Today the
modern trend toward highly impactful and visually
attractive packaging has led them to upgrade to the
latest printed Darfresh® webs.
This decision was made with the “customer care
approach” in mind – always the top prioritiy for Ifantis.
Having experienced for over a decade the numerous
benefits of the Darfresh® concept, they wanted to fully
exploit the competitive advantages of modern and
attractive printing. The need was clearly felt for an
innovative, attractive, fresh looking modern pack. Thanks
to the eye-catching impact of printed Darfresh®, a simple,
minimal design was chosen to reinforce the branding and enhance the overall appeal
HIGHLY ATTRACTIVE PACKAGING
In January 2009, Sealed Air provided Ifantis with the full Darfresh® system comprising
printed material – printed Darfresh® TP055 top and white Darfresh® RSW03X00 bottom–
along with a Darfresh® dedicated machine R272, a labeller
and thermal printer. The system was fully supported by a
portfolio of professional services. This included application
training, design development (with different sketch
proposals), along with printing and equipment installation
(integration with labeller and thermal printer). Brainstorming
and sales assistance from Sealed Air since the very early
stages of the project were essential in bringing the printed
Darfresh® project to fruition.
The well-known Darfresh® vacuum skin pack by Sealed Air
has long been associated with high perceived value in food
retailing. This packaging ensures enhanced merchandising
appeal. It emphasizes the premium quality of the product by
best showcasing it at retail, making it stand out from
competition. The pack leaves no doubt to consumers that
its content is more sophisticated than that of other products, thus justifying a higher price.
GREAT SUCCESS WITH RETAILERS AND CONSUMERS
The new Ifantis range is available at all leading retailers in Greece. Retailers have reaped a
number of benefits afforded by the new packaging – mainly innovation and convenience:
the unique product appearance – fresh and visually appealing, creating marked
differentiation from the conservative packs of the past, vertical display, oustanding
communications, merchandising and promotional opportunities, as well as savings on
logistical costs. Convenience is also enhanced thanks to long shelf-life, ease of handling,
opening and using.
