Entries sought for German packaging prize
Especially in times of economic difficulty, it is important to develop optimism and forward-thinking ideas. The market is driven by creativity and competition, and these forces also determine quality and the direction of further development. For this reason, the German Packaging Institute (dvi) is also active this year in its search for new concepts, packaging, and machine technology. For this reason, the German Packaging Prize is sending positive signals, and once again, it seeks to test the performance of the industry. The 32nd international competition, which also qualifies as entry into the WorldStar program, focuses on manufacturers, developers, designers, and users of innovative packaging solutions. The competition deadline for the German Packaging Prize runs until 17 July.
The German Packaging Institute (dvi) annually awards innovative and creative packaging. For 46 years, the German Packaging Prize has awarded top performers in the industry and set standards for future developments. The prize is awarded in 7 categories: sales packaging; transport; display and promotion; design, equipment and enrichment; prototypes; machine technology; junior prize for students, trainees, and pupils.
To foster junior participants, the dvi has also created an additional forum via its PackVision program, which develops cooperation between companies and creative post-secondary institutions to drive visionary packaging concepts. In this way, the dvi presents the entire spectrum of developments in the packaging industry: Today’s innovations compete for the German packaging Prize, and the innovations of tomorrow vie to receive the PackVision award.
The independent, competent jury of the German Packaging Prize consists of experts from professional associations and the packaging industry. For the constant and binding evaluation criteria, the jurors consider all criteria for success such of trend-setting packaging ideas: innovation and originality, functionality and ease of use, design and emotionality, commerciality, ecology, and security.
“It is pleasing to discover that over the past few years, the packaging industry has been capable of achieving top performance through the intensive development of packaging technicians and the creative work of packaging designers,” states Burkhard Lingenberg, dvi senior director and responsible overall as advisory board member for the German Packaging Prize.
