Pro Sweets maintains position
ProSweets Cologne is maintaining its position despite the difficult economic conditions. The world’s first supplier trade fair exclusively for the confectionery industry, which will take place for the fourth time in Cologne from 31st January to 3rd February 2010, can report that good interim results have been achieved — even with eight months remaining until the event begins. “The outlook for ProSweets Cologne 2010 is very promising. At this early stage, around two thirds of the hall area occupied by ProSweets Cologne 2009 has already been rented out for the 2010 event. We currently assume that in 2010 the trade fair will once again be even bigger than the past events,” says Sabine Loos, Vice President Koelnmesse GmbH. ProSweets Cologne will take place in parallel to the International Sweets and Biscuits Fair Cologne – ISM – and will bring together the entire range of supplies required for production, processing and packaging of confectionery items. Many renowned companies from all segments have already confirmed that they will participate. In the “Processing machines” segment, companies including Confiseriemaschinen AG, Carle & Montanari S.p.A. and Franz Haas Waffel- und Keksanlagen Industrie GmbH will be participating. In the “Packaging machines” segment, companies such as Loesch Verpackungstechnik GmbH and Gerhardt Schubert GmbH will once again be represented at the fair. In the “Packaging” segment, the returning companies include Hoffmann Neopac AG, Mayr-Melnhof Packaging International GmbH and PAWI Verpackungen. And in the segment “Ingredients”, the companies Merck KGaA and Chr. Hansen will be presenting their products.
Suppliers who will be represented for the first time at ProSweets Cologne in 2010 include ANL Plastics (Packaging), Nid Pty. Ltd. from Australia (Processing machines), Ottenschläger GmbH (Processing machines), Rose Intech GmbH & Co. KG (Scanner and RFID technology) and Finnish company Stora Enso Oyj (Packaging).
Compared to the previous event, ProSweets Cologne 2009 expanded its product range by six per cent to 307 exhibiting companies from 28 countries (2007: 289 from 26). The event also recorded a 38 per cent growth in visitor turnout, to 14,700 experts from over 100 countries compared to the previous event (2007: 10,655 from more than 100 countries). Nearly 50 per cent of the visitors came from abroad. In addition to visitors from Germany, ProSweets Cologne 2009 attracted strong interest from the Netherlands, Italy, Belgium and North America.
With ProSweets Cologne and the leading trade fair ISM, Koelnmesse presents the confectionery industry’s entire value chain at one trade fair location, from individual raw ingredients and process and packaging technology to the packaging itself and products ready for retail sale. The conceptual sponsors of ProSweets are the Association of the German Confectionery Industry (BDSI), Sweets Global Network (SG), the German Agricultural Society (DLG) and the Central College of the German Confectionery Industry (ZDS).
