Anuga crossing technological barriers
For the fifth time now, Anuga FoodTec, which will take place from 10th to 13th March 2009, will be the world's only specialist trade fair that presents the international food industry with all of the relevant themes in food production from processing and packing to hygiene, storage and distribution. The key strength of Anuga FoodTec is that it is not restricted with regard to sectors, raw materials or sub-processes. This event is being staged jointly by Koelnmesse GmbH and the German Agricultural Society (DLG). Its three-year cycle precisely corresponds to the innovation cycles of the sectors it addresses.More than five months before the fair kicks off, it’s already clear that Anuga FoodTec 2009 will match the outstanding results achieved by this event in 2006. Following numerous new registrations in all segments, it is now expected that approximately 1,200 companies from more than 40 countries will once again be represented in Cologne. The international market leaders of the respective sectors will of course be among them, as will important specialist suppliers. Around half of the companies will again be coming from abroad.
Anuga FoodTec crosses all sector and technology boundaries as well as cultural boundaries in order to present the entire spectrum of food processing one that encompasses every phase of food and beverage production. No other specialist fair has such a cross-over concept. The compact and expert presentation of the entire range of relevant process technologies, combined with the fair’s cross-sector appeal to the entire food processing industry, opens up unique synergies and also reflects the current development of the market.
Anuga FoodTec 2009 will occupy Halls 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 and 10 of the Koelnmesse exhibition centre, with a total gross exhibition area of 110,000 m². As was the case at the previous event in 2006, the product ranges will be divided into five groups. This structure ensures that the visitors at Anuga FoodTec will quickly be able to get a comprehensive overview of the entire fair in spite of the complexity of this tremendous range of technology.

Matchmaking and the Mobile Exhibition Guide.
In addition to the usual range of tried-and-tested services, Anuga FoodTec 2009 will feature two new offerings: Matchmaking and the Mobile Exhibition Guide. Matchmaking is an online tool found on the Anuga FoodTec website that buyers can use to not only quickly and easily gather information about companies and product ranges even during the run-up to the fair, but also to directly contact companies of interest to them. The exhibitors then respond by e-mail, allowing the buyers to make appointments for meetings in a targeted manner, even before the event begins. And it all can be done comfortably and conveniently at home or in the office. The new Mobile Exhibition Guide is a navigation and information system for use by visitors during the trade fair. Users of the guide will find that it contains the entire trade fair catalogue, information about the fair, and a map of the exhibition centre. The system can be loaded into a visitors own PDA or mobile phone and then accessed on the go. There also are stationary terminals at the exhibition centre that offer this full range of services.
Supporting programme:
Anuga FoodTecs top-class specialised supporting programme will give sector participants still another reason to visit the event in Cologne. Organised by the DLG, the Anuga FoodTec forums will address topics and questions of current interest to the sector, with presentations by leading research institutes and associations.
For the first time ever, the renowned InnoBev Global Soft Drinks Congress will be held at Anuga FoodTec in spring 2009. Every year the congress brings together the leading manufacturers, suppliers and analysts of the soft drinks sector, who present and discuss the latest trends and developments on the global market. The British specialist publishing house Zenith International is organising the event. The three-day congress will begin on 9th March 2009, the day before Anuga FoodTec opens.
The 12th PETnology Europe 2009, the PET sectors leading communication platform, will also begin on the day before the fair opens, and will also be held in cooperation with Anuga FoodTec. This annual two-day congress provides an overview of the latest developments, innovations and sector information for the beverages and PET packaging industry. Next year its motto will be connecting comPETence.
In addition, Agra Informa, the organiser of the well-known World Juice Congress, will be presenting a one-day congress focusing on fruit juices on the second day of the trade fair.
Another highlight of Anuga FoodTec 2009 will be the special show Robotik-Pack-Line, initiated by Koelnmesse, the German Agricultural Society (DLG), and renowned technology partners. The show will demonstrate safe, quick and hygienic methods for producing, processing and packaging food products all without human aid, since the system is fully automated. Initially introduced at the event in 2006, the “Robotik-Pack-Line” technology has since been further enhanced and implemented by a network of top-class technology partners who have consolidated their core competencies into a successful partnership. More than 40 companies are currently involved in this project.
The trade fair also will feature special shows focusing on the themes of packaging, the environment and sustainability, and quality assurance technology.

Over a period of four days, the fair will provide a concentrated overview of capital goods and services for the food industry. The trade fair is open to trade visitors only.
