Plastic cups keeping school meals fresh
The local education authorities responsible for running the canteens wanted to enhance students’ eating experience by introducing new packaging for a variety of food products, including salads and desserts. Most of the recipes had previously been packaged in aluminium, but it was felt that plastic would provide a more convenient format due to its light weight and ease of opening.
They approached RPC Barrier Containers France, who quickly recognised that the white barrier cups – manufactured at RPC Bebo Nederland – would deliver a suitably versatile solution. Thermoformed in PP/EVOH/PP to provide barrier protection against oxygen ingress for a longer ambient product life, the 80ml, 140ml white cups are filled and sterilised in Rodez before being closed with aluminium film and labelled.
“The cup format delivers the ideal packaging for the canteens,” comments Roland Schultz, Sales Manager of RPC Barrier Containers France. “The barrier material keeps product fresher for longer to ensure a great taste, and the cups are also highly convenient.”
