Pregis to further increase prices
Pregis Protective Packaging Europe is to introduce further price increases as from 1st September 08 to recover rises in input costs. Pregis introduced its first round of price increases only two months ago.
This second price increase is mainly in response to significant further increases in raw materials, mainly resin prices” says Fernando De Miguel, President of Pregis Protective Packaging Europe.
In the past, the quotation of crude oil has always been volatile with upward and downward swings. Since the beginning of 2008 the crude oil price increase has turned into an upward trend and has now increased yet another 14% in 6 weeks time! The first price increases are not sufficient to cover the latest increases in raw material prices.
“We have targeted further savings in our operating costs, footprint and reduction of our SG&A cost base” De Miguel said. “We will continue working diligently to identify alternative cost reduction opportunities, and ways to add value to the businesses.”
