Polish economy expands by 6.4% in Q1
Thus the country recorded the 5th strongest GDP growth in Q1 out of the 27 EU member states. It lagged behind Slovakia (8.7% y/y GDP growth), Romania (8.2%), Bulgaria (7.0%) and Lithuania (6.8%). The economic growth in the EU was 2.3% in the first quarter, which is slightly below the 2.5% expansion in Q4/2007. In terms of GDP per capita Poland is third from bottom with EUR 13,500, only beating Romania and Bulgaria .
