Cryovac introduces foam tray for ready meals
Cryovac® OFT is the new foam C-PET tray for
the Ready Meals market. This new tray
represents the state-of-the-art packaging
solution for the Dual Ovenable segment in
Ready Meals. The foam tray brings significant
added value to the industry with its improved
sealability, its ‘cool to the touch’ feature and
outstanding differentiation versus the current
rigid tray offer.
Description
According to the company, Cryovac® OFT is today the best unique proposal in the Dual Ovenable segment for
significantly reducing packaging waste. Indeed, it weighs 30% less than standard rigid trays
of similar size. No sustainable solution exists today in the market place able to reduce
environmental impact and still deliver reliable performance for a fit-for-use packaging
solution for Ready Meals (e.g. heat resistance, hermeticity, shelf life).
The new foam tray can be sealed with the Cryovac® DOF range of films. Its optimized
flexible structure results in reduced tray deformation while its special thermal insulation
allows it to remain smooth and cool to the touch after thermal treatment or, alternatively,
not too cold when taken straight out of the freezer. Its high barrier property also provides
optimal preservation of the food products organoleptic qualities.
