Airless for convenience of use
MEGA designs and manufactures for the pharmaceutical sector a wide range of dispensing solutions that meet the most stringent quality requirements. At the occasion of Pharmapack 2008 Congress, Mega presented several applications of their airless dispensers developed with leading pharmaceutical laboratories, in particular the packaging solution designed for Ketum, the anti-inflammatory gel of Menarini Laboratories. “The use of the Mega exclusive airless system responds perfectly to the problems of safeguarding and protection of the product but also of precision of dosage and convenience of use”, indicates Rainer Schuchmann, Sales manager & Marketing of MegaPlast.
Preventing any contact with air by using MegaPlast’s special automatic sealing membrane in the orifice of the pump, the formula of the product, which contains 40 % of alcohol, is protected from evaporation and dry-out. By creating vacuum in the pump chamber and due pressure compensation, the piston follows the product – again without using any atmospheric air. This permanent protection of the product results in other major advantages such as the elimination of contamination of the formula inside the pump, a significant increase in the stability and shelf life of the product and thus, the possibility of reducing the quantities of conservatives in the formulation.
Moreover, the packaging solution developed by Mega for Ketum gel offers an excellent alternative to the dosage ruler ensuring very precise and reproducible dosages. In addition, it fulfills the end-users expectations for more ergonomics and convenience, for it allows the delivery of the product with only one hand, in a hygienic way and in any position (360°).
Like the whole range of MEGA airless dispensing solutions, this system is all in plastic and 100% function tested in accordance with the highest safety and quality standards. It authorizes Ethylene Oxide (ETO) and Gamma Radiation sterilization.
