Two German companies win highest award in the packaging industry
Impress Metal Packaging and Gerresheimer Plastic Packaging receive the President’s Award in Gold and Silver
As every year, the competition for the prizes was very keen: On 21 May 2008 in Accra, Ghana, the World Packaging Organisation presented the much sought-after President’s Award – the highest international accolade that can be won for packaging.
This year’s happy winners also included two candidates who had qualified as winners of the German Packaging Prize:
Impress Metal Packaging of France won the President’s Award in Gold for its “Heineken 10 L - Beer Keg”, while Silver went to Gerresheimer Plastic Packaging from Denmark for its “Duma Desiccant Cap” packaging.
Already in the run-up, it was becoming clear that the German entries were in with good chances in the competition for the internationally sought-after trophy, for three of the six entrants nominated for the President’s Award were already winners of the German Packaging Prize – yet further confirmation of the importance of the dvi prize as an international distinction and trend barometer for the industry.
So with a little luck, an entry for the Packaging Prize is also an invitation ticket to the contest of the World Packaging Organisation (WPO). “I can only encourage all packaging developers to take part once again this year in the tough competition for the German Packaging Prize and so also qualify for the international trophy,” Burkhard Lingenberg, dvi director and chairman of the committee for the German Packaging Prize, urges the packaging industry in Germany and neighbouring countries.
As new packaging solutions are also always dependent on the mechanical engineering capabilities available, an additional Packaging Prize for Machine Technology is also awarded every three years. It is due again this year, so packaging machinery manufacturers and suppliers are invited to enter for the competition.
