Sealed Air launches training centre for food professionals
Packforum is launching a brand new and innovative initiative in the form of Cryovac Food Engineering, the Sealed Air Cryovac organisation in charge of providing training courses for food professionals. The aim of this initiative is to provide customers with the know-how in food processing and packaging engineering which is essential for the successful development of high quality convenience foods.
The first of the courses offered by Cryovac Food Engineering is on Microwave Heating. The course provides the know-how in product formulation, product layout and packaging design necessary for the development of food products designed for microwave cooking or re-heating. Cryovac Food Engineering will also be offering courses on “Food Preservation: Process & Packaging Technologies”, as well as “Sous-vide Cooking”, in conjunction with the Alain Ducasse school.
State of the Art Kitchen Facilities
Packforum has recently been equipped with the latest state of the art food demonstration and training area. The facility is designed to host training sessions for up to 25 attendees in comfortable surroundings with direct access to a demonstration kitchen equipped with a range of domestic and commercial microwave ovens, a conventional oven, a high speed Turbochef oven and induction hot plates.
The cooking facilities are also uniquely equipped with a multimedia system which allows in-oven infrared imaging of heating patterns in the microwave ovens using one of the latest FLIR system infrared imaging cameras. This fully computerized audio and video system enables attendees to walk away with the actual demos recorded live on a DVD. In addition to the food demonstration and training facilities, the course attendees have access to the packaging machinery hall which is equipped with some of the most leading-edge packaging machinery systems.
