Romcarton expierences increase in sales
Corrugated cardboard manufacturer Romcarton (part of the French group Rossmann) registered sales in 2007, up 15% against 2006.Corrugated cardboard manufacturer Romcarton (part of the French group Rossmann) registered sales in 2007, up 15% against 2006.
The company held an approximately 23% market share, according to the report made by the Romanian Association of Corrugated Cardboard Producers, cited by Romcarton representatives.
Romcarton’s main competitors are Rondoncarton and Dunapak.
“Our industry was heavily affected, as early as 2006, by large price increases for energy and raw materials, which prompted a rise in costs and, and implicitly in the sale price for products,” said Paul Henri Kohler, general manager of Romcarton. Romcarton produces around 2,250 tonnes of corrugated cardboard every month, and boasts clients from the food, car, cigarette, spirits and detergents industry. In Romania, there are 9 manufacturers of corrugated cardboard, which produce around 170,000 tonnes of corrugated cardboard per year, with 60% used for packaging. “The remaining 40% is sold as corrugated cardboard sheets, to other companies that turn it into packaging, or to furniture manufacturers,” explained Paul Henri Kohler.
