The heartbeat of pharmaceutical packaging
Since foundation of the company in 1948, the name Uhlmann Pac-Systeme has stood for highly flexible packaging machinery for pharmaceutical production. The company has attained its current leading position on the world market thanks to its capacity to think beyond conventional tasks and to offer more than just a machine. A good eye and the courage to break new ground are tradition. Based on sophisticated engineering and many years of experience, the company is qualified to meet every demand: the packaging solutions are as diverse as the products themselves. More than 7,000 machines are in operation throughout the world.
The company headquarters are located in Laupheim in southern Germany, with a further base in Towaco, N. J., USA as well as subsidiaries in Brazil, Great Britain, Sweden, Spain, Switzerland and Singapore. Another subsidiary company is the competence centre for in-line quality control systems Uhlmann VisioTec GmbH. In addition to its own companies, the packaging machine specialist is represented in over 40 countries. The most recently established local service and sales office is the Uhlmann Packaging Systems Shanghai Representative Office in the People’s Republic of China.
New member of the Uhlmann Group since July 2006 is KOCH Pac-Systeme GmbH based in Pfalzgrafenweiler-Bösingen/Baden-Württemberg, Germany. KOCH has made a name for itself as a manufacturer of special machines for individual packaging solutions. Founded in 1969, the medium-sized company designs, plans, constructs and markets customized machines. They package practically everything from A to Z in every conceivable manner: using cartons, cardboard/film packaging, blisters, wallets and mono cardboard packaging (NURPACK). The scope of products ranges from standard machines for the production and sealing of blisters through to specially designed complex machines and packaging lines with automatic product feeding and end-of-line packaging. Machines for the production of large-sized blisters complement Uhlmann’s range of products in particular.
The Uhlmann company is dedicated to total quality, certified according to ISO 9001 and has a workforce of some 1,300 employees worldwide. Sales attained approximately 156 million Euros in the business year 2006/2007. Each year around six per cent of the turnover is invested in research and development. The export quota accounts for about 83 per cent of sales.
In a fiercely contested market, Uhlmann is committed to making packaging machinery more intelligent and efficient as well as simpler and more customer-friendly. The key to success lies in transformation of the operational organization from a machine construction company to a consultant and partner for all packaging tasks in the pharmaceutical world. Both in terms of machines and the associated support services of the Customer Support & Services division, Uhlmann consistently stands out with trend-setting innovations.
