Nominations for German packaging prize announced
The German Packaging Institute (dvi) has announced the contest for the German Packaging Prize. The 2008 competition has just been opened, and ambitious candidates now have time until 1 August 2008 to submit their entries for the prestigious award. The increasing internationalisation of the dvi’s packaging competition, which already enjoys a very high worldwide reputation, will increase the incentive to participate still further. The trophy awarded in Germany is also tantamount to an invitation to the contest held by the World Packaging Organisation (WPO), where the best of the best from all countries come up against one another. And last year alone, 13 out of the altogether 16 German submissions received one of the globally sought-after WorldStar awards – an impressive success rate, if ever there was one.
“The German packaging industry has shown that it is right up there in the international top league,” says Burkhard Lingenberg, dvi director and chairman of the committee for the German Packaging Prize. “Anybody – whether as a developer, designer, manu-facturer or anything else – who thinks they have produced a particularly innovative, creative and smart solution should make sure not to miss the opportunity our competition offers.”
