German company completes Syrian plant
With the erection of an AD*STAR® production plant in Homs, Syria, for Al-Matin for Trade and Industry, a member of Al-Matin Group, the total global installed production capacity has just surpassed the 2 billion sack mark. Due to the tremendous pace at which global powder and bulk markets are growing, this significant step was taken much earlier than expected by Starlinger – the international patent holder of the AD*STAR® sack concept.Over the years, the AD*STAR® sack has convinced a vast community of sack users of its superior quality and benefits. Many of them will no longer consider any other type of packaging. Although AD*STAR® is used for packaging all kinds of free-flowing goods, with 78% the better part of the production capacity is used for building materials, of which 82% for packaging cement.
The huge success that the AD*STAR® sack has seen since its market introduction can be attributed to the fact that, from the development of the new sack concept back in 1993 onward through subsequent stages of technical advancement, Starlinger has never restricted the focus to one particular area but instead looks at all business interests involved in the life cycle of a sack.
Sack producers, of course, are looking for high output and an excellent cost/performance ratio in their machinery. In addition, they want to serve as many markets as possible in order to maintain commercial autonomy.
Brand owners and packagers want to achieve high filling speeds and at the same time a reliable packaging operation. Yet packaging must strike a balance between practical considerations and benefit for product and brand image promotion. The demands of retailers and distributors are similar, but beyond that they are also looking for superb appearance and storage integrity.
Last but not least, consumers seek convenience in the packaged product. They want a dust-free product and are increasingly aware that their buying decisions can have a major effect on the environment.
In that the AD*STAR® sack is convincing in all these points, Starlinger and its customers are not only looking at a very successful past, but also at an even brighter future.
