Compact system or modular line
A renowned paint manufacturer from Slovenia fills their viscous paints in five different boxes from 100-1500 ml, the largest box containing 15 bottles and the smallest 6. The round and square plastic bottles are packaged using the SOMIC universal Wrap-Around Packer WA 414 W/2. Due to space constraints, this group packer was designed as a compact system. For this, the box closing unit, previously an independent machine station, was integrated into the packaging station. This new machine, now one metre shorter than its sister model, can create up to 1000 Wrap-Around boxes per hour, in a small space and at reduced costs.Pet food comes in all kind of different types. The modular SOMIC packaging line with its three machines, presented at INTERPACK, is predestined for high quality requirements and the special features of this product group. The machine can pack 450 dishes or 38 trays per minute. The machine is made up of the tray erector KA 412-T/2, the inserting packer EP 412-TL and the box coverer
DA 414-D/2. The high performance tray erector can supply two packaging lines simultaneously.
The inserting packer collects the dishes using the known lamella chain grouping system. A vacuum belt positions the empty boxes. Two groups are inserted in two trays simultaneously from above and with great care, with the support of a pushing system and by lifting the two trays. The box coverer, the last link in the packaging process is a universal hi-tech device. The eight-lamella folding head can close even the most unusual lid shapes. As with the exhibition version, two trays can be stuck together in advance to make a unit, before they are closed with a shared lid and made into a sales unit. As is normal with SOMIC, all three individual machines have a clear working procedure and are on a single level, making them easy to access. So that the trade fair visitors can see this system in operation, the exhibitor has created a Somi Con product storage machine. When fed by this machine, the packaging process can be viewed at the original speed.
Processing different products and services is the particular strength of both of the packaging systems, which each have very different designs. Cups, jars, pouches and also folding boxes, of any size or shape, can be boxed automatically. In particular, changing format parts using SOMIC Quick-Change is a highlight for all multishape machines. This means that tools can be changed in half the time. Selecting the format program on the touch operating panel creates a perfect reproduction and opens all the required parameters. Each of these systems is an individual product and is variably equipped with format tools and specific software. Together, they are tried-and-trusted standard modules along with the PacDrive servocontroller from the market leader ELAU.
