Rexam completes Russian purchase
Rexam, the global consumer packaging group and the world's leading beverage can maker, has completed the acquisition of Rostar, the Russian beverage can maker. The transaction, which was announced in July 2007, was conditional on regulatory approval from the Federal Antimonopoly Service of the Russian Federation (FAS).As part of the FAS approval conditions, Rexam has undertaken to invest in Russia to meet beverage can market growth in the region. Rexam currently plans to build a new plant in Novosibirsk during the next few years.
