Filling system for healthy drinks

The population of the world is growing older. At the same time, the desire is growing to remain active and healthy even in old age. The beverage and food industries have responded to this increasing health trend with new product developments, and according to Andreas Steinle, CEO of the Future Institute at Kelkheim near Wiesbaden, they are making process profiling themselves as 'health providers'.

KHS is responding to the market demand for the healthy with a new filling system.  The Innofill NRS is primarily intended to fill small plastic containers with non-carbonated products.  That lets it satisfy consumer demand for health and maximum convenience with healthy snacks.  The computer-controlled normal pressure filling system basically processes any fluid, non-carbonated product.  Vegetable drinks, dairy beverages with cereals, viscous fruit beverages, and so forth.

The Innofill NRS is explicitly designed to fill plastic containers with mouths at least 20 mm in diameter.  Particularly for very viscous products, this makes their consumption convenient and fast.

During development of the Innofill NRS, the focus was on simplicity and maximum hygienic safety.  These points have been implemented.  At the same time, the Innofill NRS is a world first.  For instance, the Innofill NRS is the first probe filling system in which the probe enters the container fully automatically as soon as it is positioned under the filling valve.  Usually, the probe projects statically out of the filling valve and a container positioned under the probe is lifted with a lifting element.  The Innofill NRS operates entirely without lifting elements.  Plastic containers are guided by neck handling.  The elimination of lifting elements results in significant advantages including fewer wearing parts and thus lower maintenance and cleaning costs, along with maximum system availability.

With the Innofill NRS, both single-phase and double-phase open-jet filling processes can be implemented.  A gas lock at the product outlet ensures no-drip filling.

All passages are smooth-surfaced throughout the Innofill NRS, from the ring bowl to the filling valves.  As in all other product-conducting channels and passages, aseptic membranes and sealing techniques are used within the filling valves of the Innofill NRS.

The Innofill NRS may be a natural for hot filling, but it is able to do classical cold filling and even filling processes under ultra-clean conditions.

For any filling process, KHS offers peripherals exactly adapted to the company’s needs, and thus can deliver the entire system beginning with packaging and palletizing technology, and including conveying systems, rinsers, cappers, labeling systems right up to the process engineering for blending and pasteurizing beverages.  The effective motto: ‘All from one source’.
