Austrian legal firm sees Belarussian possibilities
A pioneer in CEE, the opening of new offices in Sofia, Minsk and Budapest further strengthens CHSH's presence in CEE, adding to offices in Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Brussels, and Vienna. "These new offices continue our pioneering work, bringing our clients nearer to CEE growth markets," said Albert Birkner, Managing Partner of CHSH. "Our clients' confidence in our expertise and the acquisition of experienced, highly qualified lawyers in all three countries ideally position us to support our clients' success in CEE" said Peter F. Hoffmann, Managing Partner for CEE.CHSH is the first Austrian law firm in Belarus
The first Austrian law firm in Belarus, CHSH is building on its role as lead counsel in the acquisition in 2007 by Austria Telekom of the Belarusian mobile phone provider MDC (”Velcom”), valued at 2 billion dollars, one of the largest M&A transactions in Austria and CEE. “Advising Telekom Austria in the complex Belarusian legal environment again demonstrates CHSH’s leading position in cross-border transactions.” commented Birkner. Peter F. Hoffmann is already looking to the future: “Belarus is a promising European market which we expect will open further to international investors, despite its political situation.”
EU entry and tax cuts encourage continued investment in Bulgaria
A new EU member state with an attractive 10% flat tax, Bulgaria has attracted investor attention. “It’s a rapidly growing market where our clients seek competent and reliable advice”, stated Hoffmann.
