Plastics and rubber industry in the Czech Republic is growing fastest of all the EU countries. Exports are increasing, as well as the domestic consumption of its products. The key customers, buying processed plastics and rubber, include automotive, electrical, and packaging companies, as well as the currently booming civil engineering and building industry.

The dynamic development of the sphere naturally issues in increased demand for machines and production appliances, which are often made to measure especially for the particular technology or even a job. This group of customers is addressed by the International Plastics, Rubber, and Composites Fair PLASTEX, which has successfully established its position at the Brno Exhibition Centre in 2006.

“In the first year, there were 189 exhibiting companies from 16 countries, which was much more than we expected. More than half of the participants came from abroad, which is also great success and record-breaking result in the history of our company,” said Jiří Rousek, MSc, Director of the Trade Fairs Brno business group. The new fair quickly found its expert clientele, therefore the exhibitors were leaving with satisfaction. “We were happy for the opportunity of PLASTEX, and used it to address directly the customers in our industry. Taking part in the first year of an exhibition is always a bit risky, but we are content. I do think that organising a specialised fair like this was a truly good idea. I am very satisfied with the location of our stand, as well as with the infrastructure and services at the fair. What was also a pleasant surprise for me – the high number of participating companies, especially foreign ones,” said Hans Hagelstein, director of Mold-Masters Europa Corporation.

PLASTEX is the only specialised fair for the industry of plastics, rubbers, and composites in the Czech Republic. At its premiere in 2006, more than two fifths of the exhibitors presented their products and services in the sphere of machines and appliances for the processing of plastics and rubbers, 21.9 % of companies exhibited semi-finished products, plastic products, and rubber-based products, and 20.2 % exhibited polymers – raw materials and additives. The co-organiser of the fair is the Association of Processors of Plastics of the Czech Republic, which is preparing an interesting accompanying programme also for the second year of the event.
