Bassell increases prices
Effective December 1, Basell will increase prices by $200 per tonne on all of its Adflex, Adsyl and reactor-grade Hifax resins produced in Europe for export into US dollar-based markets.“Despite strong demand for our advanced polyolefin products, the deterioration in the U.S. dollar over the last twelve months has resulted in significant margin erosion in our European exports business,” said Paul Yeates, managing director of Basell Sales and Marketing Company B.V. and president of Basell’s Advanced Polyolefins business.
Yeates added: “In addition, we anticipate further price increases will be necessary, as the most recent increases in crude oil costs and the shortage in raw materials in Europe and North America will impact our production costs.”
Basell’s polypropylene resins based on the Catalloy process are marketed under the trade names Adflex, Adsyl and Hifax. These resins, which possess a broad range of properties from flexibility to stiffness, are used to produce customer applications in the building and construction, compounding, specialty and packaging film and automotive industries.
