MeadWestvaco Corporation (NYSE: MWV) today announced that it has acquired Keltec Dispensing Systems, one of the world's premier foamer and airless dispensing systems manufacturers. The acquisition advances MeadWestvaco's global packaging leadership strategy by expanding its array of packaging solutions and services to customers worldwide. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Keltec, based in Drunen, The Netherlands, produces leading edge, patented foamer and airless dispensing systems ideal for customers in the personal care, health care, cosmetic and home care markets. Keltec’s solutions feature a unique metal-free dispensing path that prevents any direct contact between the formulation and metal, therefore maintaining the highest degree of the product’s integrity. Keltec’s airless dispensing systems are driven by the company’s revolutionary rolling bellow technology and include minimal components, which allows for the high performance of medium and high viscosity fluids. Keltec’s foamers produce a rich, luxurious foam associated with high end personal care products, and are offered in multiple output and styles for easy customization.

Keltec will become part of MeadWestvaco Calmar, the company’s pump and spray packaging solutions business acquired in 2006. MeadWestvaco Calmar will integrate Keltec’s technology into its production facilities in North America and Asia, and will expand activity in the Drunen facility. MeadWestvaco Calmar will provide dedicated capacity and distribution capabilities to deliver these unique products to the global marketplace, and accelerate the development of additional products within the Keltec innovation pipeline.

“Keltec’s ability to innovate differentiated, high-value solutions for customers in the personal care, beauty and home care markets has propelled the company to the forefront of the dispensing systems marketplace,” said John A. Luke, Jr., chairman and chief executive officer of MeadWestvaco. “With this acquisition, we are combining Calmar’s global resources and market prowess with Keltec’s unique product lines to benefit new and existing customers, and to realize long-term profitable growth opportunities.”

Keltec’s management team will remain in place, and the company’s employees will transition to MeadWestvaco Calmar.
