Huhtamaki creates comfort cup

Huhtamaki’s new Chinet® ComfortCup™ has a triple-layer design, which keeps beverages hot while consumers comfortably hold the cup. Simply stated, the sleeve is already attached, so there’s no need for double cupping or adding a sleeve – a true convenience feature for customers.

“Coffee drinking, in particular, is at an all-time high,” says Amy Smith, Multi-Unit Accounts Director for Foodservice in Huhtamaki. “And when customers receive their drink in a single paper hot cup, they’re demanding a sleeve or an additional cup to keep their beverage hot and to protect their hands. These additional items become a problem for hot beverage providers.”

Creating a winner

In addition to convenience and quality Huhtamaki’s ComfortCup™ offers superior thermal insulation, smooth wall graphics and one dome lid to fit all three cup sizes. Huhtamaki has paid close attention to details such as the lid being rigid but yet flexible enough to minimize cracking and how the cup design impact the number of cups that fit in a case.

“Developing ComfortCup™ involved combining three different technologies. We utilized Huhtamaki’s global expertise and technology knowhow to offer our US customers a new, attractive hot cup solution”, says Jim Lammert, Director of Marketing, Foodservice in Huhtamaki Americas. “Our single lid design fit all three cup sizes and enhance the convenience of the cup use while ensuring superior leak performance.”
