RPC Barrier Containers France's expertise has enabled leading French food manufacturer William Saurin to launch a range of ambient pâtés under its renowned brand name.

The Portions range of spreadable pâtés offer a convenient alternative to fresh varieties due to their long shelf life and handy packaging format of four single-serve cups retailing in a cylindrical outer carton. William Saurin has developed a process to ensure that the small cups are carefully sterilised to ensure the products taste as good as fresh pâté.

It is vital that the single-serve cups are capable both of withstanding the sterilisation process and maintaining product quality on-shelf. William Saurin turned to RPC Barrier Containers France to translate the Portions concept into reality.

The 60cc cups are thermoformed in white PP/EVOH/PP at RPC Bouxwiller, on an inline production line. After filling, each cup is sealed with an aluminium foil closure and packed into the printed outer carton.

William Saurin Portions has successfully been launched in four-carton packs at leading French supermarkets such as Carrefour, Casino, Leclerc and Auchan. Flavours include Olive Chicken, Tomato Chicken, Country Pâté, and Liver.

“We are proud to launch the innovative “Portions” range under the William Saurin name, bringing a new way to consume pâtés” comments Eric Fleurance, Product Manager at William Saurin. “The input of RPC Barrier Containers France has been instrumental in delivering a great-tasting, convenient product to the consumer.”
