Ecological shrink wrap tunnel
At the Fachpack 2007, KHS AG, international manufacturer of filling and packaging systems for the beverage, food, and non-food sectors, will be presenting a new type of shrink tunnel that offers numerous advantages.
Whether bottles, cans, plastic containers, etc., this new shrink tunnel concept can be used for all packer models to finally wrap the products of the beverage, food, and non-food sectors.
The special highlight of this new type of shrink tunnel is that operates with a gas heater instead of the electric heater ordinarily used in the past. The key advantages: Using a gas heater as the heart of the shrink tunnel can cut energy costs by up to 50 percent versus the conventional electric heater. This means that the newly presented shrink tunnel model is an ‘ecological shrink tunnel’ in the truest sense of the word.
The comparatively shorter heat-up phase emphasizes the ecological benefits. In addition to using less energy, this means nothing other than increased machine efficiency.
Moreover, the temperatures of this innovative type of shrink tunnel can be set more exactly than in the past. The result is exceptionally gentle product handling coupled with perfect shrink-wrapping results.
This new gas heating method can be easy retrofitted to many existing KHS shrink packer models.
When investing in new equipment, customers may choose between the ‘ecological shrink tunnel’ and the conventional shrink tunnel version. Calculations show that the additional cost of the ‘ecological shrink tunnel’ generally pays itself off within an exceptionally short period of time.
On the whole, this new KHS development in the field of shrink tunnels offers plenty of potential for the future. Also considering that plastic film is becoming more and more popular as a packing material worldwide. There are many reasons for this. For one thing, plastic film packaging enhances the attention-grabbing effect on consumers. Even if unprinted film calls attention to the product excellently, the printed form remains the ideal advertising medium. Secondly, film packaging is considerably less expensive than traditional cardboard packaging. In addition, there is the argument in favor of environmental friendliness - due to the low consumption of packaging materials.
The virtually wrinkle-free shrink-wrapping results achieved by the unique shrink-wrapping technology of the KHS Innopack Kisters shrink tunnel are prerequisite for an optimal appearance of shrink film packaging.
