German - Russian forum to be held

One major mechanism of support for the German foreign economic relations
with the EU-neighbour countries in Eastern Europe in the field of agriculture
and related industries is the cooperation of Germany with these countries in
further education and qualification of agricultural specialists.
During the past 15 years, selected organisers have for the Federal Ministry for
Nutrition, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELV) invited many hundreds
of trainees from Eastern Europe to Germany for internships in agricultural
enterprises or, e.g. at agricultural machinery manufacturers. At the beginning
of a 6-month internship, the trainees get a two weeks’ briefing on agricultural
technics, animal farming, agricultural policy of the EU, etc.
From this cooperation work, countless contacts have developed and supplied
the German industries with enormous advantages, first and foremost in the
export business. At the same time, Ukrainian, Russian and Belarusian agriculture
have profited from the new experience of their young specialists and
accelerated development in agriculture. Now, the partners meet for reminiscence
of what trainees do today and of what has resulted from this work.
Before the Russian Agricultural Exhibition “Golden Autumn” opens on 12th
October, the Ministry BMELV, that participates in this exhibition also with an
official German participation with 41 enterprises, organises the German-Russian
Forum “Further Education and Qualification in Agriculture” in the renowned
Timiryazev-Academy in Moscow. The forum takes place 11-12 October.
