Advanced resin for sustainable packaging
Brand owners are searching for new ways to meet demanding sustainability guidelines. ARCEL® advanced foam resin delivers the unique ability to reduce package sizes, without sacrificing any of the protective qualities found with traditional foam packaging. Smaller package sizes result in less waste, as well as reduced fuel consumption and lower transportation emissions.ARCEL resin can reduce cube size by as much as 40 percent, dramatically lowering the cubic volume of a shipping carton. This reduction represents a critical step toward meeting the new sustainability requirements of big-box retailers such as Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. “Consumer product manufacturers are discovering that ARCEL resin provides significant sustainable packaging benefits. Not only does it better protect their products, it also allows them to use less material – and reduce transportation costs,” said Rick DePew, Business Director, ARCEL resin, for the Americas and Europe.
The reduced cube size enabled by ARCEL resin yields increased efficiencies throughout the supply chain. Loading additional boxes on every truck, container and pallet enables fewer shipments, resulting in both cost savings and environmental benefits. “Our cube-reduction research indicates that use of ARCEL resin in packaging, compared to traditional foam, can reduce truckload shipments by 50 percent or more – cutting fuel consumption and emissions in half,” said DePew.
