Finance conference for Bulgaria
Over 400 people from all over the world will reflect on “10 Years of Bridging the Market Gap” during the 10th MFC Conference of Microfinance Institutions organized by the Microfinance Centre (MFC) for Central and Eastern Europe and the New Independent States under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr Georgi Parvanov to be held in Sofia Bulgaria from 31 May - 2 June 2007.
An estimated 200 million people do not have access to financial services in EC countries. The majority of those outside the financial system, belong to low-income households, many are self-employed. These people require the same financial services as those available to a typical bankable person (savings, insurance, transfer, leasing, etc.), and especially small amounts of working capital, along with other business support, to start or expand their small scale business as well as other financial services available in wide offer to a typical bankable person.
The 10th anniversary of the MFC Conference provides an opportunity to reflect on microfinance sector development in ECA region, leverage on past successes and come up with actionable plans for the years to come. Over 400 participants representing wide range of microfinance sector stakeholders (incl. NGOs, private and public sector representatives) will have invaluable chance to discuss how new technologies, partnerships or other innovative solutions may contribute to effectively reaching unbankable people.
