FEFCO working for the environment
FEFCO, the European Federation of Corrugated Board Manufacturers, represents a vital industry; one that produces packaging that is used everyday. The corrugated packaging industry has been successful in consistently reducing not only emissions but also the consumption of energy per ton of product.
This industry has shown that it is capable to continuously improve processes. To support this FEFCO started a Life Cycle Study program over 16 years ago. FEFCO has been using these life cycle assessments (LCAs) to help understand the overall environmental impact of corrugated packaging systems, thereby helping member companies design better product solutions. This fits in well with the sector’s philosophy of whole system engineering for corrugated packaging systems, looking at environmental as well as operational and technical performance. But what will be the determining factors in packaging choices in the future, now that global warming has become a top priority for consumers and policy-makers?
Mr. Serge de Gheldere, who is lecturing on the impact of climate change at the Nice Technical Seminar, together with a panel of industry experts, will take your questions and discuss during a press conference which will take place on 26 April 2007, at the Acropolis Convention Center in Nice, France, starting at 13:00.
