According to MRC, the Russian HDPE market will grown on average by 12% a year. Today, the consumption of HDPE per capita in Russia (a bit more than 4 kg) can be compared with such countries as China, Turkey, Brazil and Iran, but it is significantly lower than in Canada and Saudi Arabia.

Unfortunately, already in 2005 Russia became a net importer of HDPE. According to the results of 2006, the HDPE import increased by more than two times and constituted 224 KT. In accordance with the data of mrcplast.ru, imported pipe brands (PE 100: Hostalen CRP 100 of Basell Polyolefins, Eltex TUB 121 of Ineos Polyolefins and PE 80: P31E of Korea Petrochemical) were the most popular. According to MRC, the growth of pipe HDPE consumption will become one of the key development factors of the entire HDPE market right up to 2010.

In 2006, sales of film brands increased as well: HXF4810H/Karpatneftechem (Lukoil-Neftechem), F-Y346-A Shurtansk Gas-Chemical Plant, Seetec PF-150 / Hyundai Petrochemical. The cable brand Borstar HE 6062 of Borealis is still holding the leading positions in the rating.

The ЕВМ market in Russia preserves good potential for further development. This is proved by the dynamics of investments into this sector. Most probably, the Russian processing of EBM goods will follow the Polish scenario, i.e. it will be increasing by 8% annually. Supplies of HDPE from Budennovsk are leading in this sector.

The share of imported polyethylene in the sector of injection molding constitutes about 25%. The production of HDPE injection molding brands is dominated by the brands of Kazanorgsyntez, in Russia. The lack of HDPE production capacities in the Russian Federation will be somewhat restraining development of this sector. According to the assessments of MRC, the PE consumption in the sector of injection molding will be increasing in average by 9% a year during 2006-2010.

Many market experts consider that LLDPE will be forcing LDPE out of the sector of general-purpose films. But in the sectors manufacturing retail trade bags and shrinkable films the film LDPE can be replaced exactly with the film HDPE. The market of Turkey can be considered as the most suitable analogue in this case; today, they sell about 150 KT of film HDPE brands there.
