Inspired by the cosmetics industry, the food sector is increasingly focusing on upscale and fashion-inspired packaging to better promote its products. Ingenious cases, boxes and coffrets in a number of material and design combinations are tempting consumers.

Here are a few recent packs created by the COSFIBEL* group.

Wine and spirits: packaging hungry

Studies have shown that the shape and material of Piper’s packs have increased sales for the brand. As a result, for the end-of-year holidays, Piper invested in more expensive and more impactful packaging—it sheathed its champagne bottles in showy plastic cases.

Each vintage had its own color: red for brut, purple for the “sublime” vintage and pink for the rosé. The packaging features matching hues with an icy effect on the front and back. This modern, light and trendy gift package signed Roskoplast is easy to carry thanks to its fine cord.

For Spanish Cava brand Codorniu, Grumbe created a translucent cylindrical bottle (seamless, glued by ultrasound). Its ‘stained glass’ decor shows the bottle while celebrating its precious and noble contents. This original creation won the Liderpack award in Spain.

Coffrets are still a sure bet. Valdubon opted for a luxury cardboard coffret covered in embossed paper with deep red leather decoration, which houses two bottles and vials. In addition, the coffret gives the contents excellent protection, its ample size offers good visibility, the quality workmanship allows for other uses while the brand leaves a lasting impression. Created by Grumbe.

Food: packaging for all tastes

A translucent cubic red case encloses Griottines, (wild Morello cherries filled with Kirsch liqueur) and being perfectly square, the pack contrasts with the jar’s spherical shape. The case plays on the transparence of plastic and glass.

This amusing gift packaging also features a decorative item. Created by Roskoplast.

To present its tasty Lindor chocolate, Lindt chose a transparent cylindrical box (seamless, glued by ultrasound)—an atypical shape in the world of chocolate. Decidedly festive, the product, by Grumbe, is colored red and gold.

Renowned tea house Kusmi Tea has opened a boutique in the Saint-Germain quarter of Paris and is launching a tasting coffret created by Mandalay Design. The white rigid cardboard box houses delicately flavored mousselines. The lid, with magnet closure, is adorned with Kusmi’s famed brightly colored labels, which makes a highly refined packaging to keep over time.

*COSFIBEL in brief:

When it was founded 7 years ago, 80% of Cosfibel’s business was in cosmetics. Today the group is diversifying. Its turnover is split between cosmetics (60%) and food (40%) with the aim of developing both sectors equally.
