Mondi opens R+D facility
Mondi Packaging Paper Sales GmbH opened Innovation Centre for Paper and Bags Frantschach in October 2006.Because of extreme competition in the paper industry, our aim is to provide our customers a superior quality and continuous enhancements in efficiency and product specifications.
We believe continuous research and further development of products, processes and customer benefits can strengthen Mondi’s market position and, hand in hand, the market position of our customers.
That was the main reason for Mondi to put Research & Development for the Paper and Bag Business into one centralized place to get an optimal supply unit which passes on know-how, expertise and knowledge in production processes.
More than EUR 1.5 million have been invested into this project so far and also new, high qualified places of employment can be created.
High quality staff at the Innovation Centre in Frantschach will be responsible not only for developing new and improved paper properties but also for enhancing the quality and efficiency of production processes – and seeing to it that Mondi packaging provides high value-added technical services.
The new R&D Centre is located directly beside the Mondi Packaging Paper Mill Frantschach. Due to the fact that the specific technologies cannot be further developed in test facilities but rather directly in production Mondi Packaging Paper Frantschach has a high advantage of location. Especially with its multifaceted production facilities (fully integrated paper production, Pulp Mill, 3 paper machines, flash drying Plant) and very well educated paper technologists.
In Frantschach, different products and methods can be developed for nearly all Mondi Plants and Mills.
The new Innovation Centre will significantly contribute to Mondi Packaging Paper´s position as a leading supplier of high-quality sack and kraft papers and sack – making technology, as well as customized specialty market pulp qualities.
