Odra wraps up PET deal
One of Poland’s leading confectioners has announced it will turn to PET packaging to help increase the profile of some of its leading brands as it looks to growth in export sales.
Odra, which has operated in the country for over 60 years specialise in a variety of sweets and chocolate products that until recently were sold in PE bags.
With the company looking to increase its market share both domestically and in the export market, it has taken the decision to overhaul its current packaging with a more durable and protective casing.
“Customer feedback revealed demand for a new packaging format that offered excellent display and product protection properties,” revealed a spokesperson related to the matter.
While the company revealed it had considered the use of glass jars, the danger of breakages particularly through the large amounts of transportation involved with exporting goods, made this option unsuitable.
As a result the company will use the 3 litre Clara PET jar by packager RPC Blackburn, as well as corresponding lids designed by sister company, RPC Halstead.
The new jars will be used through a number of its branded goods including its Cytruski and Landrynusy candy ranges.
The news marks the increasing importance of PET plastics to the packaging industry as a durable and fully recyclable alternative to existing methods.
“PET offers lightweight and shatterproof benefits that make it ideal for export. In addition, the material’s contact clarity allows products to be easily seen, whilst it’s large decoration area provides space for eye-catching labels,” added the spokesperson.
