Interpack progressing
Messe Düsseldorf is yet again expecting a very strong response for Interpack – which means that Düsseldorf is once more set to be the focus of attention for the entire packaging industry from 24 to 30 April 2008.
As the world’s No. 1 fair for the industry, the 2008 edition of interpack promises to unveil innovative solutions and comprehensive services for all packaging sectors as well as the confectionery industry. interpack is synonymous with the future of packaging in all its facets, from individual or integrated process stages through intelligent/active packaging, innovative materials, improved quality controls and tooling engineered for flexibility to marketing-oriented design. The industry is looking forward to interpack 2008 with great anticipation – especially as the upcoming edition has received a makeover and new corporate design. There has also been a change in subtitle to “Processes and Packaging” and a rework of the list of exhibits. For the first time, exhibiting companies will have the opportunity to showcase “stand-alone” solutions for packaging materials production. Wilhelm Niedergöker, Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf, justifies the revamp, saying, “This is our response to current developments in the global packaging industry and an effective method of further opening up interpack to packaging production processes. Visitors to Düsseldorf will be able to take in all links in the packaging and processing value chain. This comprehensive overview will provide a basis for business decisions that can be taken with confidence.”
Thanks to the construction of a new hall which is already underway, interpack 2008 will benefit from an enlarged exhibition space. Hall 8b will be located on Europalatz, north of the mall and opposite Hall 8a, which was completed in 2005. Measuring 100 by 150 metres, the new hall will bring the total exhibition space at the Düsseldorf Trade Fair Center to 265,000 square metres.
And that’s not all – further extensive work to upgrade the fairgrounds is also in progress. To this end, workmen can also be seen around Hall 14, which according to Messe Düsseldorf’s master plan, is to be completely renovated. Aluminium-coloured metal sheets will clad the façade and more daylight will flood in through a large glass entrance area and new skylights. The technical facilities and air-conditioning, in particular, will also be brought in line with the state of the art. An enclosed walkway will link Hall 14 to Hall 15 and the East Entrance. Completion of the renovations is slated for the end of 2006. The investment in the construction work amounts to EUR 19.5 million.
