New fair in Moscow
From 20 to 23 November a new trade fair line-up has its premiere in Moscow: the long renowned PharmTech exhibition is for the first time expanding to include CosmoTech. Here the Gerresheimer Group will provide
specialist visitors with comprehensive information about
high-calibre packaging and application systems: on its stand
no. C208, pharmacists and medical practitioners can see the
complete spectrum of glass and plastic packaging ranging
from tablet containers to sterile syringes – two interesting
talks round off the information package for the
pharmaceutics industry. In parallel, the Group is displaying a
widely varied range of glass allure for all areas of cosmetics
and personal care.
The field of pharmaceutics is by far the most important market
for Gerresheimer. As a leading international specialist in packaging
and systems made of glass and plastic the Group enjoys high regard
throughout the world for its consistent quality policy, outstanding
development expertise across the board and strong innovative
resources –at PharmTech it has been for many years a sought-after
dialogue partner.
“We are delighted by the response from the
specialist public in Moscow and have matched our information
package for the trade fair very carefully to its specific areas of
primary interest”, says Burkhard Lingenberg, Director of Corporate
PR and Marketing for the Gerresheimer Group.
The exhibition is likely to leave no wishes unfulfilled: the company, which now
manufactures in more than twenty locations in Europe, America and
Asia, is one of the world’s most important specialist suppliers of glass
and plastic packaging for pharmaceutics.
In all the pharmaceutically relevant glass classes (I, II and III) and
above all through its extensive range of different design variants for
bottles and jars in flint or amber glass, the moulded-glass product spectrum is exceptionally wide and meets all requirements in its field. In addition, an even more highly differentiated product range
is based on type-I borosilicate tubular glass which Gerresheimer as a
vertically integrated manufacturer produces itself from scratch and
also markets as an intermediary product, i.e. in non-specific tube
form.
As a high-tech primary material for a broad spectrum of
pharmaceutical packaging and systems, borosilicate tubular glass
will undoubtedly continue to be of great importance in the future,
so it worthwhile to know more about it. For this purpose
Gerresheimer offers exhibition visitors two seminar events: Dr.
Michele Schinella (Kimble Italiana) and Eric Schmidhäuser
(Gerresheimer Tubular Packaging Europe) will provide interesting
insights into the production processes and a guide to the quality
criteria which are critical for tubular glass packaging. On the
exhibition stand the Group displays a cross-section of its extensive
packaging range of cartridges, ampoules and vials made of this finewalled
glass and the prefillable all-glass syringe systems based on it.
Particularly for its completely sterilised, siliconised and preassembled
– i.e. Ready To Fill – syringes under the RTF® trademark,
Gerresheimer is today recognised internationally as a technology
leader. To complement these, it has developed especially painreducing
precision needles and a widely varied range of other
accessories which ensure maximum safety in practical use. Special
mention is deserved here by the Rigid Needle Shield: this needle
protection cap which is soft on the inside and hard on the outside
was recently awarded the coveted 2006 German Packaging Prize as
an important innovation for protection against injuries. A totally
new feature is the expansion of the RTF® family to include COP
(Cyclic Olefin Polymer) syringes with outstanding barrier properties:
Gerresheimer will in the near future be able to supply plastic-based
sterile systems which are suitable on the one hand for highly
sensitive medications and on the other hand for large volumes. They
are primarily intended for use as depositary solvent syringes for
freeze-dried medications and for contrast-material injections in x-ray
medicine.
The Group has also substantially expanded its plastic product range
outside the syringe sector. Under the umbrella of the Business Unit
Gerresheimer pharmaPlasticSystems, visitors to Moscow can see a
previously unheard-of, highly innovative range of packaging and
application solutions for both liquid and solid medications. Its key
features include for example a unique variety of tablet containers,
which has just recently been complemented by further-refined tamper-evident desiccant closures produced by Gerresheimer
completely in-house. In addition to packaging, this range also
comprises numerous dosage and application systems including for
example eye droppers, miniature nasal-spray bottles and inhalers.
The field of cosmetics is the subject of a smaller part of the
exhibition stand which is nevertheless of great interest to visitors to
the trade fair. In this sector Gerresheimer again offers a range of
glass packaging which covers all the relevant market segments. The
wide spectrum of attractive flacons, bottles, vials and pots exude a
magical allure and provide perfect protection not only for perfumes
but also creams, lotions, makeup and nail varnish. It is of interest to
note finally that the Group is one of the few suppliers in the world
which serves both the select market and the wider mass in parallel.
The entire product range thus benefits from the know-how of the
Gerresheimer design specialists and from its sophisticated
technologies for individual shaping and finishing: this is enjoyably
highlighted in Moscow by a showcase full of aesthetically appealing
glass allure from different product fields and cultures.
