Retal installs new equipment
With the recent addition of two HyPET 300 systems, Retal Industries, a major packaging and component supplier in Russia and Eastern Europe, has extended its reliance on Husky Injection Molding Systems. From the initial machine supplied to their plant in the Czech Republic in 1994, followed in 1999 by the first machine supplied to Russia, Retal Industries has installed a total of 69 Husky systems to date. The company designated Husky as the main supplier for their PET preform systems more than five years ago.
“We face the best kind of challenge – a continuous need to increase production,” explains Alexey Chubykin, Director of Business Development, Retal Industries. “Husky has consistently supplied us with equipment that allows us to increase production quickly and do more with less. More importantly, they have been there at every step to help with production analysis, installation, local support, 24/7 maintenance and valuable services. Additionally, Husky’s factory planning services have been critical in merging and streamlining the various sites that have come to us through acquisition.”
Husky’s systems approach helped transition workcells from installation to full production as quickly as possible. Husky conducted several factory audits at different Retal Industries facilities in order to analyze the personnel structure and to optimize production processes, as well as provide turnkey factory planning support. Husky strongly supported the integration of Retal Industries’ plants in order to improve the exchange of information and know-how between different facilities in different countries.
The Husky equipment and systems approach means Retal Industries requires less manpower to operate machinery, thanks to professional training and user friendly set-up, allowing easy access and overall less maintenance. Husky’s systems deliver faster cycle times, improved accuracy, reduced mold wear and better melt mixing - thanks to screw design and mold technology - when compared to competitor systems. This is complemented by 24/7 local language technical and service support, as well as spare parts supply in all Retal Industries’ locations in Lithuania, Russia, Ukraine and the Czech Republic.
“Husky’s HyPET systems and their auxiliary equipment are ideal for Retal,” adds Milos Kuzman, General Manager, Husky CIS. “Combined with our comprehensive approach to support services, this makes it possible to increase production capacity as needed.”
The result of a 2005 merger between NB-Retal and NB-Europe, Retal Industries is the largest manufacturer of PET preforms in Russia, producing more than nine billion high-quality preforms and closures annually. The company combines 12 production sites, including eight plants in Russia, two in Lithuania, one in the Czech Republic and one in Ukraine, and serves markets across, Europe.
In addition to manufacturing common preforms and caps, Retal Industries has a reputation for continuous innovation and has consistently been one of the first in Eastern and Central Europe to introduce new preform types to the market.
The company is also one of the pioneers in Russia of preform systems and technology for packaging that extends the shelf life of sensitive beverage products such as fruit juices, dairy products and beer, including an innovative single layer barrier technology sold under the brand name STEKLOPET.
The company aims to become a global player for PET packaging, which involves plans to enhance their manufacturing capacities in Europe, Russia and Central Asia.
