Siberians recycling
SigmaMASH, based in Irkutsk, Siberia, has launched a project to recycle polypropylene, polyethylene and plastic bottles in order to produce secondary raw materials.
About one third of recovered material will be turned into carpet fibres, synthetic threads, clothing and textiles. The remainder will be used for secondary PET sheets, films and multi-layered bottles.
The project will involve a 1.5 million rouble investment, which is expected to be recouped in around a year.
