Gerresheimer on syringes
In its display and a specialist lecture at the 19th International A3P Congress in Biarritz (17 to 19 October 2006, Espace Bellevue), Gerresheimer concentrates entirely on ready-to-fill sterile syringes and peripherals. Today the ‘Ready to Fill’ family represents the most advanced category of syringe systems not only in terms of production technology but also with regard to delivery techniques, says Burkhard Lingenberg, Director of Corporate PR and Marketing for the Gerresheimer Group.
The Gerresheimer Group has had a long-standing presence at this congress for pharmacy and medicine, which is attended each year by more than five hundred scientifically and technically interested participants, on the Atlantic coast in the South West of France. As a leading international specialist in pharmaceutical packaging and systems the Group now works increasingly with plastic in addition to glass. Particularly with its leading trademark RTF® it enjoys high worldwide regard as a pacemaker in the field of ready-to-fill sterile syringes, not least through its innovative development of accessories. The objective, Lingenberg explains, is to achieve maximum safety and convenience on all aspects of injections while at the same time minimising pain for the patient.
With intelligent complementary components such as those presented by Gerresheimer to A3P visitors (Stand 10), this already appears to have been accomplished to a large degree. Recently, for example, extraordinary popularity has been attained by the Rigid Needle Shield which has just been awarded the coveted German Packaging Prize for 2006 as an important innovation combining effective protection of the needle with effective protection against injuries from the needle. The current product spectrum ranges even further: from the Tamper Evident Luerlock Closure, combining the tamper-evident closure and needle adapter in a single casting, through to a new design concept for precision needles to reduce pain for the patient on insertion, and the dual-function Backstop to solve frequently encountered problems in the use of syringes.
