Messe Düsseldorf has joined hands with Pro Carton, the European Association of Carton Manufacturers and Cartonboard Mills in organising an INNOVATIONPARC PACKAGING at interpack 2008. This decision was reached by the association’s 14 national heads at this year’s autumn Pro Carton Congress held in Berlin on 15 September. Founded in 1988, the Pro Carton initiative’s mission is to promote folding boxes’ high levels of performance and varied applications to the food and non-food industry.

In a statement made in Berlin, Michael Clark, President of Pro Carton International, welcomed the new joint project with Messe Düsseldorf, saying that his association was very excited about INNOVATIONPARC PACKAGING 2008. Already in the run-up to the next interpack, this cooperation provides a host of new opportunities to spotlight the importance and potential of packaging, not only as a functional but also an emotional communicative medium in the international arena. Mr. Clark went on to underline his confidence that Pro Carton could persuade many prominent companies from among its 500 European members to make a special commitment to the INNOVATIONPARC PACKAGING in Düsseldorf. In summation, Wilhelm Niedergöker, Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, commented: “The concept devised by Messe Düsseldorf in the packaging sector is based on a cumulative structure. We have established a first-class circle of expertise which promises to reach new levels of success with the incorporation of ideas from Pro Carton and others.”

Manfred Aumann, Pro Carton Chairman for Germany, believes that the collaboration with Messe Düsseldorf, the organiser of the world’s No. 1 packaging fair interpack, will generate excellent synergies for both cooperation partners. Aumann stressed that Pro Carton would harness its diverse network of expertise for the benefit of the joint project. One of the major factors that swayed Pro Carton in favour of the cooperation was interpack’s highly respected status in the international industry. “We have noticed that, particularly in emerging markets where the range of offerings is constantly expanding and consumer demands rising, high-calibre expertise spanning the spectrum of product packaging capabilities is still sorely lacking. And that goes for both the packaging and retail industries,” said Aumann, explaining the new cooperation.

Jürgen Bihler of Pro Carton Germany and Richard Dalgleish from the Pro Carton Head Office will be responsible for putting the ideas into practice and implementing INNOVATIONPARC PACKAGING 2008 on behalf of Pro Carton. Messe Düsseldorf’s contribution to the showcase will lie with seasoned trade fair pro and interpack Project Director Bernd Jablonowski who is the force behind the debut of the INNOVATIONPARC PACKAGING which is rounding out this year’s food fairs.
