MC INTERCEPT, a world first in the export, packaging and warehouse sector, is one such groundbreaker. This product, the result of intensive research and development work at Walz Verpackungen, is an ingenious cardboard box, made of 90% corrugated card but lined completely with a special corrosion-protection layer. This is achieved using INTERCEPT TECHNOLOGY™, a unique method of corrosion protection patented and pioneered by COMPtrade Technologies of Eisenach, Germany. PackSynergy, the purchasing and marketing cooperation of packaging wholesalers, is presenting this revolutionary new product MC INTERCEPT for the first time at FachPack 2006.

The product is being marketed in Europe exclusively by PackSynergy. “This innovative solution has tremendous potential for the export, packaging and warehousing market,” explains PackSynergy´s Managing Director, Robert Ehlert.

So far no other supplier on the market worldwide has been able to present such a sophisticated solution. MC INTERCEPT boxes are a cost-effective, reliable way to remove all risk of corrosion occurring in transport, no matter how long the distances and wherever in the world the destination is – from Guangzhou (China) to Omsk (Siberia) or Saskatchewan (Canada).

An export winner

MC INTERCEPT boxes bring clear and obvious benefits. Because they are made of corrugated cardboard, the boxes are not subject to any restrictions in export regulations – unlike wooden packaging. Also, as they weigh 40% less than wooden packaging, this means lower transport costs and easier handling. MC INTERCEPT boxes are ultra stable, thanks to a special sandwich seal (multicross) and therefore reusable several times. And one person can fit the box together quickly and easily, thanks to an intelligent push-fit system with particularly strong corner joints. All without the need for tools. When not in use the boxes are dismantled and take up 60% less space than conventional solutions.

Beating corrosion

Lining the box with INTERCEPT TECHNOLOGY™ corrosion protection opens up brand new possibilities in the transport and storage of products that are sensitive to corrosive gases. INTERCEPT TECHNOLOGY™ is ‘active’ corrosion protection, involving the use of highly reactive copper, as Frank Krökel, Managing Director of COMPtrade Technologies, explains: “It actually cleans the atmosphere within the packaging, by drawing corrosive gases out of the air and binding these to the copper.” The clever thing about the whole idea is that only one material is required for virtually all products and metals that need to be protected. And there´s more: INTERCEPT TECHNOLOGY™ can bring cost-savings of up to 90% in the packaging process, because of the reductions achieved in process costs (one material for all applications, very easy handling).
